One of the questions commonly by people worldwide is that constitutes a Healthy Diet. The only problem is that when they seek the response to that question is that they bombarded with many answers from so called “experts” and cannot decide which answer is the correct one. The answer is that there is no definite correct answer. However, they are some commonly accepted guidelines accepted by most if not all nutritionists. This article outlines some of these.

The healthy eating pyramid is probably the best model for developing guidelines to create a Healthy Diet. It is possibly the most commonly used one in the world by doctors and nutritionists alike. So well-known that you may have been taught it at school by your teacher. In total you can divide the pyramid into 3 levels: the ‘Eat Most’, ‘Eat Moderately and ‘Eat Least’ types of foods.

The bottom part of the pyramid constitutes the ‘Eat Most’ section of foods. Whenever you’re undertaking a diet, you want to make sure these are the foods that you consume the most. Otherwise, you simply will not be able to achieve your weight loss goals. In this section of the pyramid, you will find the foods that are low in fat and high in fiber. Such foods include wheat, rice, fruits and vegetables. In addition, you should look to including foods such as legumes such as baked beans and lentils in your Healthy Diet as these contain both protein and iron.

The middle part of the pyramid constitutes the ‘Eat Moderately’ section of foods. You should choose wisely the foods you choose to consume from this category. These foods contain protein and other good minerals and vitamins, however, when abused, they can be harmful to your overall health. They also will not allow you to achieve healthy weight loss. Foods in this section include milk, cheese, meat, chicken and eggs.

Finally, the top part of the pyramid represents the ‘Eat Least’ section of foods. Quite simply, you should keep these foods out of your diet as they are only harmful for your body. Small amounts are okay from time to time but that’s as far as you should go with them. These foods are high in fat, sugar, salt and even alcohol. You probably know yourself what types of foods are included in this category. If you don’t, then stay from oils, margarines and butters.

There’s no doubt that following a Healthy Diet is the best way of achieving your weight loss goals.
