Liquid Diet
Additional resources include the following:
The Liquid Diet is quickly becoming one of the most popular diets used in the world today. As you can probably judge from the name, it involves not consuming any solid foods. Essentially, there are 2 types which fit into this category. One of them is a clear liquid diet which involves consuming liquid transparent foods and this includes consuming “solid” foods such as vegetable or meat broth. The other one is called the full liquid diet and involves strictly clear liquid foods. This type of diet is the focus of this article.
You may be wondering what is included in this apart from the obvious idea that it involves liquid foods. Here’s a short list:
- Carbonated beverages such as soft drink
- Ice milk
- Fruit drinks
- Milk including milkshakes
- Plain gelatin desserts
- Vegetable juice
- Tomato juice, and
- Water of course!
Another question you may also be asking is who exactly should adopt such a diet. There are 2 types of people for whom it is highly recommended. Firstly, it is commonly prescribed in hospitals to those patients who have gone any type of stomach or gastrointestinal surgery. This is probably the most obvious reason. However, recently, it has become a popular fast diet for losing weight. There have been many stories going around about people who have lost significant amounts of weight with this type of diet. Some have even claimed they lost over half their weight in just 1 year. It’s up to you to judge these stories.
Overall, adopting a Liquid Diet is an extreme form of dieting which should be taken with caution.
