is an essential part of a person diet. It is also known as L-ascorbic acid. Ascorbate is an ascorbic acid ion apart of this vitamin and is necessary to perform metabolic reactions within all animals and plants.

Deficiency of Vitamin C can cause a disease know as scurvy in humans. This can lead to a formation of spots normally most abundant on a person's thigh or legs. Additionally, severe cases can cause loss of teeth.

The C vitamin is also known to be an effective antioxidant and has the ability to regenerate vitamin E and other antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules which can slow and prevent other molecules from oxidation. This is significant as it means that cells will not become damage or become damaged more slowly than before. This enables you to keep a youthful appearance when you being to age. So for people who want to have a young appearance try maintaining a good level of Vitamin C or other antioxidants through your diet.

If for whatever reason you cannot manage your diet to contain sufficient Vitamin C there are vitamin supplements that are available to take. It is current the most widely taken dietary supplement and comes in a variety of forms such as capsules, drink mix packets and tablets.

There are so some common side effects due to the intake of a large amount of Vitamin C. One such effect is that it may cause indigestion problems often when taken when the stomach is empty. Another side effect from this vitamin is that it can cause diarrhoea. Additionally, it has been known to cause fatigue, vomiting, headaches and nausea in adults while skin rashes where abundant in small children.
